Greg
LeFils, Assistant Music Director of The Orlando Chorale since
2006, is a native Floridian who comes from a long line of
cattle ranchers. Discovering his passion for music at an early
age, Greg quickly began pursuing his dreams of becoming a
successful conductor instead of working toward an agricultural
career. He is the Choral Director at Pine Ridge High School.
LeFils
received his B.M.E. from Stetson University in DeLand, Florida,
where he was the initial conductor of "Gentlemen in Voice,"
a community men's chorus, as well as the student conductor
of the Stetson University Concert Choir under the direction
of Dr. Duncan Couch. During his three years as the student
conductor, Greg performed throughout the U.S. and Europe.
He also had the opportunity to conduct the fifth ever high
school performance of Seussical the Musical with a professional
pit orchestra.
LeFils
recently completed an M.M. in Choral Conducting, under the
direction of Dr. John H. Dickson, at Texas Tech University
in Lubbock where he also studied orchestral conducting with
Gary Lewis. There he had the opportunity to serve as the assistant
conductor of the Men's Chorus and the University Chamber Singers
with performances that included J.S. Bach's St. Matthew Passion
and a featured performance the 2005 National ACDA Convention
in Los Angeles.
